At
the "2026 National Extreme Environment Materials Strategy Conference"
held in Beijing today, the Ministry of Industry and Information
Technology (MIIT), jointly with several top research institutions,
officially released the "China Special Rubber Technology Development
White Paper for Extreme Environments (2026 Edition)," codenamed "Project
Sky Dome." The white paper comprehensively details China's latest
breakthroughs in fluorosilicone rubber (FVMQ) and phenyl silicone rubber
(PVMQ), marking that China has established a global leadership position
in materials resistant to ultra-high temperatures, deep cold, and
strong radiation.
Core
data from the white paper reveals that the new generation of domestic
addition-cure liquid fluorosilicones has successfully passed extreme
temperature cycling tests from -70°C to 280°C, with volume swelling
rates controlled within 1% in aviation kerosene and new synthetic
lubricants, far exceeding international standards. Meanwhile, the "Deep
Space Shield" elastic putty, developed based on methylphenylvinyl
silicone rubber, demonstrated an insulation performance degradation rate
of less than 0.5% under high-energy particle bombardment simulating
Jupiter's radiation belts, providing critical protection for the
upcoming "Jovian System Explorer" mission.
A
relevant official from the MIIT pointed out that "Project Sky Dome" has
not only resolved the "stranglehold" material issues that have long
constrained China's aerospace, nuclear energy, and deep-sea equipment
development but also established a complete, independent industrial
chain ranging from basic monomer synthesis and functional fluorosilicone
oil modification to terminal product manufacturing. With the full
promotion of this technology, it is estimated to drive an increase of
over 20 billion yuan in the output value of related high-end equipment
manufacturing industries in 2026, helping China take a decisive step
from a "materials giant" to a "materials power."
